Born in Chicago and raised in Lake Bluff, Illinois, Jack has been playing trumpet for over a decade. A graduate of Lake Forest High School, Jack participated in a multiplicity of musical activities, most memorably playing two seasons with the Midwest Young Artists Senior Orchestra. However, he eventually decided to pursue interests other than music in college. This was not a practical decision, however.

Jack attended Rice University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations. He has always fostered a passion for brass music and played throughout his undergraduate tenure. He spent his summers away from music, working on an archaeological excavation in Tuscany, where he helped teach field techniques and contributed to ongoing research. This was also not a practical decision.

Now Jack is a systems developer for a large industrial supply company in the Chicago area. Clearly, this has nothing to do with the Latin, Greek, or history that he studied. All the same he enjoys his job.

Outside of music Jack competes in a variety of Ultimate Frisbee leagues and tournaments and travels . . . a lot.

This is Jack's third year in the Chicago Brass Band and he is looking forward to solidifying his position as third cornet extraordinaire; or just rocking out.
