A native of Detroit, David
attended Cass Technical High School where his music teachers were Harry
Begian and Michael Bistritzky. He has studied trumpet with Alvin Belknap,
Otto Kurt Schmeisser, Gordon Mathie (at the National Music Camp), and
Malcolm McDuffee.
As an undergraduate at Oakland University he was music director of the Student Enterprise Theater. He served as principal trumpet of the Center Symphony (Detroit), the Washington University Symphony (St. Louis), the North Side Symphony (Chicago), and the Kirkwood Symphony Orchestra (Missouri), where he was also assistant conductor (under James Sedares). He has been an active performer of brass chamber music for many years and is a founding member of several chamber groups. David is a senior partner in the Chicago law firm of Letvin & Stein. |
